Okay, I assume you’re here for an honest Sole F85 treadmill review. If that’s the case, you’re in the right place; if not please feel free to explore another page on my site. First, I’ll go ahead and explain what the Sole F85 treadmill is and discuss some of the special features. Then I’ll share my personal opinion. After that, I’ll share with you some honest reviews from people besides me who have tried the Sole F85 and shared their results.

By the end of this article, you should know if this is the right machine for you, or be able to scratch it off your list of candidates.

What’s the Sole F85 Treadmill?

You may have heard about Sole Treadmills from Consumer Reports often rating them as Best Buys, or you may have heard people mentioning them in running forums. They’ve been around for 50 years, so they’re a familiar name.

The Sole F85 is a programmable, folding treadmill, made of steel, which goes up to 12 MPH and can provide inclines up to 15%. According to Sole it is their #1 best-selling model. The features that seem to make it different than some other treadmills are:

  • It’s built like a tank and apparently the heavier machines have a better track record.
  • The fold up feature helps you save room
  • It runs very quietly even at high-speeds, so you don’t have to worry about bothering other people when you use it.
  • The shock absorption lets you run without knee pain.
  • The deck is longer and wider than many other models, so you have lots of space to run even if your stride is really long.
  • The buttons are big and responsive and you can see all the readouts at once, so you can run fast without having to slow down to change settings.
  • It has lifetime warranties on all the major components including the frame, deck and motors, 5 years on smaller parts and a 2 year labor warranty which means you don’t have to worry if you run into a mechanical issue.

My Sole F85 Treadmill Review

I’m a serious runner and have completed two marathons, so when I needed to buy my own treadmill, I was really nervous about finding one solid enough for me to really pound the daylights out of it, mile after mile. My gym has a couple of Woodways which I enjoy using, so I thought, “Okay, I’ll just buy a Woodway.”After I Googled and had to practically get out the smelling salts when I saw their prices, I realized I had some research to do to find what I needed: something that provides value without sacrificing quality.

When I started to narrow it down to a few options, my big concerns were:

1. Is the Sole F85 sturdy enough for a real runner?

My confidence in the Sole F85 treadmill increased when I learned that the Hilton Hotel chain has them installed throughout their hotels, which means they handle constant use from people of all different shapes and sizes. It has a 3.5 CHP motor and lets you run up to 12 MPH, so power was a concern I could check off my list. I find it very stable and the treadboard has lots of flex which makes it very comfortable for my knees and feet.

2. Is this a noisy treadmill?

In my opinion, the Sole F85′s a very quiet treadmill and my husband says he can’t hear it at all when he’s not in the room. The way the decks are constructed causes almost no friction between the belt and deck which eliminates the noise many treadmills make. Many people report being able to use it when other people in their houses are asleep without disturbing anyone. I actually couldn’t find a single report of anyone finding it noisy.

3. Does the folding feature cause all kinds of problems?

I worried about the folding feature. I was concerned it would be difficult to fold up and also had visions of the treadboard coming crashing down when I wanted to unfold it, but the whole thing is hydraulic and very easy to control. It also doesn’t seem to affect stability at all.

I really like being able to fold it, because I use my Sole mostly in the late fall and winter and don’t want it taking up space the rest of the year, so I just roll it into the closet in our family room.

What Do OTHER people think about the Sole F85 Treadmill?

I read lots of real people’s reviews all over the web and have collected some of their words here for you.

Obviously, I’m not an expert and haven’t personally tried every treadmill on the market. I can only share my own experience with you and provide the solid information I gathered during my research. You have to make up your own mind based on your research, as well as your personal fitness needs, which might not be the same as mine.

However, after researching it for a long time and speaking with other owners, I am comfortable recommending the Sole F85 as a great treadmill for runners or anyone who wants a treadmill that should last years. Besides all the positive feedback I’ve found online, the thing that swayed me most towards being comfortable saying to others it’s a good purchase is the lifetime warranty on the major components.

Features and reputation are always the biggest factors for me when it comes to determining whether or not a product is worth buying and in this case, Sole came out remarkably well.
